Responsibilities: The Department of Dance and Theatre at the University of North Texas is seeking a full-time lecturer in dance to begin September, 1, 2020 (classes begin 8/27/2020). The position of Lecturer comes with full benefits. The candidate will teach four undergraduate courses (all levels from beginning through advanced) per semester. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to innovatively teach a range of undergraduate dance courses, such as dance history and culture, dance pedagogy, music for dance, choreography, and somatics. Also demonstrate ability to teach one or more diverse dance genres or styles. Candidate should demonstrate the ability to choreograph for the Faculty Dance Concert. Active participation in Department activities and committees is expected, including producing or rehearsal directing for the Faculty Dance Concert.

Rank & Salary: Lecturer. Multi-year contract. Salary is competitive.

The Department: Dance and Theatre is housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences with 3 full-time dance faculty, adjunct teaching artists, and approximately 125 majors and minors in Dance. The Department offers a BA degree in Dance and a BA in Dance with Teacher Certification. The Department produces a season of 2 main stage productions as well as laboratory events choreographed by students. The Department is committed to hiring professional guest artists to engage with students and faculty.
