Professorship in Contemporary Dance Artistic Practice (Pay Scale W2)

We are seeking an experienced artistic dance practitioner who will represent teaching contemporary artistic dance practice, also with regard to a variety of methods. Areas of responsibility comprise the conceptual (further) development and design of study and research profiles for the BA Dance in close connection to the profile of the CCD. Tasks also include promoting the networking of the BA Dance course with the professional field and coordinating as well as supervising student projects and theses.

Our Requirements

  •  Degree of study in the field of dance or a contextually appropiate completed domestic or equivalent foreign university degree or a commensurately recognised artistic expertise

  •  Multi-faceted competence in dance techniques and somatic practices

  •  Explicit affinity to reflection and theorization of one's own practice

  •  Recognised artistic dance practice with particular value on a notable stage experience

  •  University teaching experience

  •  Excellent communication and organisational skills

  •  Willingness to collaborate in the university’s self-governing body

  •  Knowledge of German and English

    Special emphasis is placed on a regular teaching presence.

    Furthermore, the terms of employment shall arise from § 29 of the Law on the Art Schools of North Rhine-Westphalia (“Gesetz über die Kunsthochschulen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen”). Employment shall be a private law employment relationship initially with a fixed term of two years, with a view to becoming permanent. Part-time employment with half of the teaching load is conceivable. The University for Music and Dance Cologne aims to increase the proportion of female professors and explicitly calls upon qualified women to apply.
