Lecturer in Dance

Major/Essential Functions

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Dance, including all levels of Jazz and/or Contemporary; preference given to candidates who can also teach other courses, including Hip-Hop, Improvisation, Pedagogy, or Ballet
  • Create choreography for the faculty dance concert
  • Mentor BA and BFA Dance students in choreography
  • Contribute to the mission of the School as a colleague

Required Qualifications

Graduate degree in the teaching discipline or a closely aligned field. Ability to teach effectively. Job assignment is full-time instruction. This position will be classified as Security Sensitive and require a criminal background check if selected for employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor effectively, particularly with diverse student populations Demonstrated ability to choreograph for performances. Collegial attitude and willingness to collaborate with others. This position will be classified as Security Sensitive and requires a criminal background check if selected for employment
  • Minimum of 5 years professional employment in the related field, graduate degree (Master of Arts, Master of Fine Arts, or doctorate) in Dance or equivalent professional experience
  • One or more years of experience in university teaching, not including as a graduate student.
