Associate or Full Professor in Latinx Performance Studies

The Performing Arts Department (PAD) and the Department of Romance Languages & Literatures (RLL) invite applications for an Associate or Full Professor in the area of Latinx Performance Studies with a focus on race and ethnicity, to begin fall 2022. We seek an accomplished scholar or scholar-artist who examines the performance practices and cultural forms of Latinx communities, with particular attention to the experience of race and ethnicity in the United States. Diasporic and hemispheric approaches to Latinx performance cultures and traditions are also welcome. Responsibilities include publishing scholarly research and, if applicable, conducting creative research; developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses; advising and mentoring a diverse student body; and other duties assigned by the University. The teaching load is two courses per semester. Ideal candidates will offer courses that expand the curricula of both units, and contribute their expertise to existing curricular offerings in each (including arts practice courses in PAD, as appropriate). The position comes with a 75% appointment in PAD and a 25% appointment in RLL. This position is funded through the Provost’s Race and Ethnicity Cluster Hire Initiative and is part of Washington University’s commitment to build a world-class research program on race and ethnicity.

Qualifications

PhD (or equivalent terminal degree in area of expertise), along with significant evidence of scholarly/creative activity sufficient for a tenured position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
