New Associate Editor of Dance Research Journal

The DSA Editorial Board of Dance Research Journal is pleased to announce that Dr. Rebekah Kowal will be the new Associate Editor. She will start this role immediately and it is our pleasure to share some information about her editing background below:
Dr Rebekah Kowal, University of Iowa
Rebekah J. Kowal’s editorial experience began with a stint as Book Reviews Editor of Dance Research Journal from 2003 to 2009. For DRJ, she also served as the US-based co-editor of “Work With(out) Boundaries: Precarity and Dance,” with colleagues Katharina Pewny, Annelies Van Assche, Simon Leenknegt, DRJ 50(3) Spring 2019, as a manuscript reviewer, and as a member of the DRJ Editorial Board between 2003-2009 and again from 2018 to the present. Other editing work includes as lead editor with Gerald Siegmund and Randy Martin for The Oxford Handbook of Dance and Politics (2017), and as a manuscript reviewer for Dance Chronicle, American Quarterly, Information and Culture: A Journal of History, American Indian Quarterly, and SAIL: Studies in American Indian Literature, and for publishers including Wesleyan University Press, Cambridge University Press, and Oxford University Press. Additionally, she has published two monographs including: How To Do Things with Dance: Performing Change in Postwar America (Wesleyan University Press, 2010) and Dancing the World Smaller: Staging Globalism in Mid-Century America (Oxford University Press, 2020), and her articles have appeared in journals including DRJ, The Drama Review (TDR), and Performance Research.
