The Distinction in Dance is an annual award given to individuals, artists, scholars, or administrators in the annual conference’s host city whose research, artistic contributions, and/or leadership have significantly developed dance in their home community.

Nomination Instructions
Nominations will be accepted from the conference committee, local planning committee, and/or host institution. The nominator and the awardee need not be DSA members, although DSA members are welcome to make nominations, provided they are part of the conference planning process.
Please submit a one-page statement that describes the distinctive scholarly, artistic or professional contribution to the field of dance; the name and contact details of the person submitting the nomination; the name and contact details of the nominee. Email to: awards@dancestudiesassociation.org with Distinction in Dance in the subject line.
Nominations will be adjudicated by the Standing Committee on Awards. This award does not carry a monetary award. It does, however, include gratis conference registration. We welcome nominations on behalf of casualized scholars, emerita/emeritus professors, and independent artists.
